Out of this world

The last time most of us wore a transfer was probably a few years ago... The new generation of transfers, however, are less concerned with emulating tattoos of Spice Girls but with creating unique effects that could not be achieved with conventional make up.

Kim Kardashian experimented with lip transfers from Violent Lips, also popular with Lady Gaga, to achieve this unique monochrome look.

Nail Rock have also discovered the possibilities of transfers and has made them widely available on the high street. The innovative designs will transform how we adorn our nails, lips and now eyes.

Pop stars

Colour blocking is as big as ever...rework it for Spring/Summer by adding slicks of primary colours to your eyes and lips.

Make sure you keep it matt and highly pigmented, go for make up artist's favourites such as MAC and Nars. Keep all other make up natural and understated, invest in a good primer and foundation for a flawless base.

The hottest colours at the moment are hot pink and electric blue, frame eyes with mascara and a little black eyeliner to make them stand out against the colour slick.

Here are the best colours out the at the moment...

Face painting

For the more adventurous make up junkies, give this look a go...it is sure to make heads turn!

Inspired by a feature in Company magazine featuring a 'panda pout', this interpretation looks to be the first of many!

The April issue of Company is out soon.

Wednesday

Painting the town

After the colour explosion of the Meadham Kichhoff catwalk show at LFW, we have all been shown that we need more colour in our lives. With experimental hair colours and crazy make up, feature against smooth lines and a subdued palette.

Punchy fuchsia lips at Clements Ribeiro

Ocean dip dyed hair at Pringle

Futuristic blue nails at Erdem

To recreate this look, go for matte block colours on nails, lips and eyes...although not all three at once! Tropical blues will beautifully offset the accents of the colour of the season, orange.

MAC Lipstick in Morange £13.50

Rouge Dior Lipstick in Mysterious Mauve £22.50

Tuesday

Berry nice

We are slap bang in the middle of NYFW (New York Fashion Week for those among us who have not been hashtagging) where the beauty trends are always less punchy than other cities. I would prefer to look back at Paris Haute Couture and London Fashion Week as the deep plum lips provide a welcome change to the pastel and floral garments that will be taking over our wardrobes this S/S 2012.

Ashish's Spring/Summer 2012 makeup palette of deep blood reds and plums are more edgy ladylike than gothic. If you have dark to light blonde hair then this may look too dramatic, try a matte plum lipstick dabbed on with your fingertips.

NARS Pure Matte Lipstick in Mascate £18.50

Dior Addict Ultra-Gloss in Black-Tie Plum £20

MAC Pro Longwear Lipcreme in Faithfully Yours £16.50

Work it (out)

It has been announced that the legendary Iris Apfel has collaborated with MAC to produce a new colour collection.

Now, which colour to go for first...?
