We live to dwell
Yesterday marked the opening of the stylish interiors company Dwell in Cardiff, a delightful mix of understated chic and quirky accessories. The quality furniture, textiles and accessories are a real mix and match affair producing countless combinations. I absolutely fell in love with the printed cushions, priced around £30, and the unusual lighting features that illuminate the shop space.
Dwell has a very modern feel but many of the designs are based on 60s and 70s shapes, and traditional wooden furniture is propelled into the present with acrylic finishes.
Even if you cannot stretch to buy a new dining room table or sofa, the smaller products such as lighting features, mirrors and cushions will easily update existing features in your home.

In the mix
Just what Cardiff needs, another 'members club' that is doomed to failure before the first complimentary cocktail has even been sipped...this is what I thought before I attending the Lab 22 launch. An intimate club/bar/kitchen fused with sleek and innovative design, Lab 22 is an exciting new concept that has had everyone talking.
The name represents the concept of the venue; Lab or Learn, Achieve, Believe has set out to completely remaster the traditional and embrace the contemporary.
I was extremely impressed with the cocktails, the launch menu created by in-house mixologists was limited but innovative, we sampled Mrs Einsteins, Nutty Professors and a new look Cosmo with a kick. With these we sampled beautiful smoked salmon and foie gras lollipops with shots of limoncello.

The interior of the building is full of surprises...there are some features that I would love to tell you about but I have been sworn to secrecy! After hearing that there were gold bathrooms I was a little dubious but, continuing in the same manner, they were tasteful, luxurious but understated. The venue is very small but space has been used to it's best advantage throughout the club.
Lab 22 has done what other clubs in Cardiff have tried to do...but they have actually done it right! In conjunction with The Corner House situated opposite, could this be the transformation of the famous 'Chippy Alley'?

Sweet treat
The Spring/Summer collections are now in store, the snow has finally disappeared and we are mindlessly browsing boutique hotels. Nothing says summer more than a bowl of Yoo Moo's perfectly creamy frozen yoghurt topped with an endless choice of fruit, chocolate and other treats. Unbelievably, this frozen yoghurt is 100% fat free! My favourite combination is natural yoghurt accompanied by fresh strawberries and fudge pieces, but the possibilities are endless.

Just plain lazy
One of the most exciting brands to show at FUZE Bristol 2012 was Lazy Oaf, a brand famous for quirky prints and unusual graphics. I cannot wait to get my hands on the Bones Box dress and the Mixed Fuit crop top, it is really refreshing to see a brand do something unpredictable. Similarities to the kooky label Tatty Devine can be pointed out but, honestly, Lazy Oaf is more like Tatty Devine's cooler, hotter younger sister! With concessions in boutiques across the UK and abroad, and appearances at events such as FUZE, the brands presence looks set to grow and grow.

Streets of desire
Okay, so this is less of a wish list and more of a I must have it now list. At the beginning of this new season, Zara is filled to the brim with elegant and directional designs. Unlike many high street stores, Zara understands that we don't always want so-called 'disposable fashion' and that it would be quite nice if something we buy could last at least a year.
