Coming to the realisation that hangovers are less and less attractive the older I get, I am trying to cut down my own alcohol consumption...
Ambassadors for this way of living are big name young faces such as Jessie J, Daisy Lowe, Blake Lively and Kelly Osbourne. Speaking about when he gave up drinking, Daniel Radcliffe claims his choice came from the realisation that he had become "reliant on alcohol to enjoy stuff", which, most of us can admit, sounds far too familiar.
Why not swap two of cocktails for delicious mocktails, here are my favourites...
Miss Mojito
Ingredients:
2 cups water
1 1/2 cups white sugar
2 cups mint leaves, chopped
2 cups lime sherbet, softened
1 cup lime juice
1 cup water
8 cups club soda
lime slices for garnish
Directions:
1. Combine 2 cups water and the sugar in a microwavable bowl; heat on high for 5 minutes. stir the mint into the water; let stand for 5 minutes. Strain and discard the mint leaves from the syrup; set aside.
2. Stir the lime sherbet, lime juice and 1 cup water together in a large pitcher until well combined. Pour the mint-infused syrup into the mixture. Add club soda and stir. Serve over ice. Garnish with lime slices.
Apricot Gingerini
Ingredients:
2 1/2 oz white grape juice
3 oz apricot nectar
1 oz ginger infused syrup
1/4 tsp group clove
Directions:
1. Pour grape juice, apricot nectar, ginger infused syrup and most of the ground clove into a mixing glass filled with ice.
2. Shake vigorously, then strain into a martini glass. Garnish with the remaining clove shaken over the top of the drink.
