Raising the bar

A shiny new bar in the centre of Cardiff has recently opened its doors. The Corner House has finally provided a modern but cosy space with a well chosen menu and drinks selection.

Although this meeting place has only just opened it is clear (even on a drizzly Tuesday night) that it has hit all the right buttons of people in the city. I went for a classic Bramble, a short Bombay Sapphire gin, Chambord and lemon juice hit mix with crushed ice. The cocktail list will not blow you away but it covers the classics and more.

Stripped wood tables and soft leather give the bar a relaxed atmosphere, a refreshing change from other venues in the city. The Corner House has ditched the traditional city centre bar/restaurant template and I am glad of it!
